Stateless Person
A person who is not considered as a national by any State under the operation of its law. (1954 Convention Relating to the Status of Stateless Persons, art. 1).
Asylum Seeker
A person seeking international protection outside their country of nationality or, if stateless, former habitual residence, whose claim has not yet been finally determined
Law-making Treaties or Normative Treaties
Treaties which are concluded by a large number of States for purposes of:
- Declaring, confirming, or defining their understanding of what the law is on a particular subject;
- Stipulating or laying down new general rules for future international conduct; and,
- Creating new international institutions.
It lays down rules of general or universal application and are intended for future and continuing observance.
